Jadranka KosorJadranka Kosor was appointed President of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and Prime Minister of Croatia in 2009. Before that, Mrs. Kosor was appointed Vice (Deputy) Prime Minister and Minister of the Family, Veterans' Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity in 2003. In 2002, she was elected Deputy President of the HDZ at the 7th General Convention of the HDZ, after serving as Vice-President of the HDZ from 1995 to 2002. Jadranka Kosor was President of the HDZ Women’s Association «Katarina Zrinski» from 1998 to 2002. During her parliamentary career, Mrs. Kosor served as a Member of Parliament and as Vice-President (Deputy Speaker) of the House of Representatives from 1995 to 2000.

Before entering politics, Mrs. Kosor had a career as a journalist – first as a correspondent for the daily “Večernji list” and later as a radio journalist. During her engagement with Croatian Radio, she prepared radio shows for refugees of the Homeland War and also covered this sector for the News Section of Croatian Radio.

Mrs. Kosor is the recipient of many awards including the “Zlatno pero” of the Croatian Journalists Association, the Award of the European Community for Humanitarian Work, the “Europski krug” Award of the Croatian European House, the Life Achievement Award “Ivan Šibl” from Croatian National TV. Mrs Kosor is an Honorary Member of the Association of Parents of Deceased War Veterans and Honorary Vice President of the Deaf and Blind Association “Dodir”. She has published four books (two on the subject of the Homeland War and two poetry books). Mrs. Kosor was born in the Croatian town of Pakrac on July 1, 1953. She attended primary and secondary school in Lipik, and graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb.
