Kazimiera Prunskiene Prime Minister, Lithuania, 1990 - 1991
Kazimiera Prunskiene was born on February 26, 1943 and obtained her BA and PhD degrees in economics at the Vilnius University. Prunskiene joined the Lithuanian Communist Party in 1980 and worked in West Germany (1981-1986). She was elected as the first Prime Minister of Lithuania after the declaration of independence of March 1990. Now she is the Minister of Agriculture as well as leader of the Peasants and New Democratic Party Union.
