Prior to her Council Fellowship assignment in the office of the Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services of Namibia, Dr. Noah completed the MD/PhD program at the Johns Hopkins University Schools of Medicine and Public Health through the Medical Scientist Training Program, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. Studying within the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health, her doctoral thesis on female genital cutting provided information relevant for primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of the traditional practice. Concurrently with her PhD, Dr. Noah completed a master of health science degree in international health, in addition to certificates in health finance and management and humanitarian assistance. She is the recipient of several academic and research awards and is a Delta Omega (Honorary Society in Public Health) inductee. Dr. Noah is a member of the Global Health Council and the Foreign Policy Association. Her professional interests center on a multidisciplinary approach to health and social services issues in resource-poor settings, postconflict or emergency situations, and underserved communities, using the framework of politics, poverty, and gender. She has volunteered in the health field in a variety of settings in the United States, United Kingdom, and Nigeria. Following her fellowship, Dr. Noah will begin a postdoctoral position with the Population Council, where she will be addressing reproductive health issues in the West African subregion.
