Adriane Lesser received a Master of Science degree in Global Health and Population from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2010, and a BA degree in International Relations (Global Health and Environment) from Brown University in 2008. She is passionate about working to improve the health and quality of life of vulnerable populations, with a current focus on health systems, urban environmental health, and reproductive health. Her Master's thesis on environmental determinants of health in a Mumbai slum settlement incorporated original field research that she conducted with Partners in Urban Knowledge, Action, and Research (PUKAR), a Mumbai-based NGO, with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation. While a student, Adriane also undertook field studies on health systems and health care reforms in Chile, Thailand, and South India. As a volunteer consultant for The India School Fund, she gave advice on developing a school-based rural health clinic model. Adriane served as a medical translator, interviewer, and site evaluator with Health Volunteers Overseas in Peru on two occasions. In addition, she developed and facilitated a weekly HIV/AIDS and sexual education program for youth in Providence, Rhode Island.
Adriane is honored to be a CWWL Public Health Fellow at the Ministry of Public Health in Quito, Ecuador, where she is chiefly collaborating on a monitoring and evaluation plan measuring access to and quality of health care services for chronic diseases.
