Anna Lamprou is a PhD candidate in the Science and Technology Studies (STS) Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She expects to graduate in May 2012. She completed her undergraduate studies and part of her graduate degree at the Department of Chemistry in the University of Athens, Greece, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and a Master’s Degree in Chemical Education and New Educational Technologies. Her current research interests are oriented towards issues of regulatory policy development for toxic chemicals and nanotechnology. In particular, her dissertation involves a comparison of the deliberative processes for the development of toxic chemicals and nanotechnology regulatory policies (involving government and the public) between the United States and the European Union. Anna has previously been a fellow at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in the Environmental History and Policy Program where she developed a report on nanotechnology regulation and the policies proposed by three Civil Society Organizations for the Reform of Toxic Chemicals Control Act (TSCA) in the US.
