Carolina Posada will be completing her Master of International Affairs at the School of International and Public Affairs of Columbia University in May 2011; a SIPA fellow, she is concentrating in Economic and Political Development, with a special interest in children and maternal health. Carolina received her bachelor’s degree in Government and International Relations from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, where she graduated first in her class. Prior to attending SIPA, she worked at an international business consultant formulating strategies for the economic development of different regions of Colombia; this experience made her realize the urgent need of emphasizing work on education, health and gender equality to advance development, an ideal that was reinforced while interning at UNFPA during the spring of 2010. Carolina plans to work with international organizations in improving children and women’s health while eradicating gender disparities in Colombia and internationally.
