Josephine Archibald is an Environmental Engineering PhD student at Cornell University, working in a Hydrology lab. Josephine completed her undergrad degree at Oberlin College, Ohio, and then lived in Morocco for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer. Originally born in England, but Josephine’s family moved to New Rochelle NY when she was 3, so basically she’s a New Yorker.
Josephine’s fellowship placement is in Helsinki, Finland in the Department of International Affairs at the Ministry of Environment, which will start in late August. She will be working with the green economy and international environmental governance.
Josephine is hoping that she will also be involved in some water-related issues, since that is where her research at Cornell lies. Overall she’s very excited to see how Finland is able to work with its neighbors in coming up with workable environmental policy, especially with regards to tackling the threat of climate change.
