Kathleen Carroll received a BA degree from Bates College in 2005 and a MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health in 2009. She has volunteered with AYUDA, Inc., a camp for youth with Type 1 diabetes in Quito, Ecuador and has served as a project coordinator for several diabetes management studies funded by the National Institute of Health. At Columbia, Kathleen worked at the Children’s Health Fund and at the Alice! Health Promotion Program at Columbia University, developing programs to promote student health. Her interest in HIV led her to work with the NY/NJ Aids Education and Training Center to develop an evaluation for a routine HIV testing initiative. As a Public Health Fellow in the Federated States of Micronesia, Kathleen is working in the Office of Secretary Skilling in the Department of Health and Social Affairs and with physicians in national TB, HIV, and STD programs. Kathleen plans to develop and evaluate programs to improve the health of communities worldwide, reduce health disparities, and improve access to treatment and health services, particularly for women and children’s health.
