Kelsey Larsen, a Master in Public Policy student at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, is a Council Fellow in the Cabinet of Vice-President Margot Wallström of the European Commission. A native of Michigan, Kelsey graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2008 with honors and highest distinction, earning her B.S. in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations and a Minor in American Studies (along with unofficial expertise in Midwestern congeniality). Her senior research examined the escalation of violence from terrorism to civil war insurgency, which led Kelsey into the fields of international security and U.S. foreign policy. Her academic and professional experiences have covered a breadth of topics, including UN human rights action, open government laws in Iowa, data analysis of government surveys, 'neighborhood' influences on regional democratization, sexual violence as a weapon of war, and the responsibilities of a Majority Whip in the United States Congress (through a semester long simulation).Kelsey's future career plans include being a senior official in the State Department and a Senator from the State of Michigan, after which she plans to kick off her campaign for Commander in Chief.
