Marissa Brodney

Marissa Brodney studied English and Anthropology at Columbia University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Interested in human rights work, she has worked for Amnesty International in Washington, D.C. and conducted independent human rights research among indigenous communities of Patagonian Argentina. She serves as Director of Communications for the Bamboo Bike Project of the Columbia University Earth Institute (fostering growth of a bamboo bicycle-building industry in Ghana and Kenya), and will spend the 2009-2010 school year teaching English in Avila, Spain. She hopes to pursue work in the emerging global movement for economic, social, and cultural human rights, specifically with regard to women’s groups.
