Mónica Adame is a 2011 Master Degree Candidate of International Affairs at SIPA. She was born in Mexico City where she earned her bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Universidad Iberoamericana. Through her work at the Consulates Generals of Mexico in San Diego, California and New York City, she became aware of the importance of advocating for a more humane and comprehensive approach towards the migration phenomenon between Mexico and the U.S. Furthermore, her experience fostered a keen sensitivity to the marginalization of significant sectors of the population, particularly women, and vowed to work towards their empowerment. It is this aspiration that motivated her to further her studies at SIPA, where she is concentrating on Human Rights and looks forward to generating innovative and actionable policies that enhance gender equality in order to attain dignity for all and sustainable development for the country. After completing her master’s, Mónica will concentrate her efforts working at international not-for-profit organizations.
