Viviana Gomez is a first year student of international affairs at SIPA. She hails from Bogota, Colombia where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Government and International Affairs from the Universidad Externado de Colombia. Growing up in Bogotá, Viviana became keenly aware of the poverty and inequality surrounding her. Through her studies she came to see international cooperation as an effective way to pair the unmet needs of her fellow Colombians with the international agenda of developed nations. It is that realization that motivated her to work in governmental consulting in Colombia and further her studies in the U.S. At SIPA, she is concentrating on Economic and Political Development in order to bring cutting-edge development solutions to Latin America to improve the standard of living of impoverished and marginalized populations. After completing her master’s, Viviana hopes to work in multi-lateral development organizations or consulting firms.
