Based upon the successful expansion of the Public Health Policy Graduate Fellowship Program in 2009, the Council added an additional component to its Graduate Fellowship Programs in 2010, the Environmental Policy Graduate Fellowship Program. Following the successful model of the Gender and Public Policy and Public Health Fellowship Programs, the Environmental Policy Graduate Fellowship Program places students in United Nations agencies and in ministries of the environment in both developed and developing countries. In these offices, Fellows actively participate in projects that deal with today’s most pressing environmental challenges, such as climate change, sustainability, and conservation.

"Besides knowledge, this fellowship gave me valuable experience about practical policy procedures, which is something that as a student I had limited access to while studying at a university. I also met a lot of important people and I situated myself as a scholar and a woman in a very interesting, important, and influential network, a network that I hope I can be a part of in the future."
