US President Barack Obama described the recipients of this award as “agent[s] of change.” The Council of Women World Leaders extends heartfelt congratulations to the Honorable Mary Robinson on this distinction.

Message from Council member H.E. Maria Liberia-Peters, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles (1984-1986; 1988-1994):

Mary,
Please receive my congratulations. This is so beautiful! I'll be nailed to the television on that day. I know how you feel at times, when the spotlight is being directed on you. But Mary as you see, the star will continue to twinkle no matter what. That is what the star was created for. Your work as advocate for human rights and your determination to stand tall and stand strong for happiness of mankind is blessed.

Pabien! (Congratulations in my language)
