On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Council, within the framework of the Ministerial Leadership Initiative for Global Health, hosted a policy dialogue to highlight the recently-published WHO report on women’s health globally. The report provides the latest global figures on women's health and identifies specific needs and health challenges to women from birth to old age. Panelists discussed the policy implications of the evidence showcased in the report and the opportunities and tools currently available to decision makers in the health care arena. The report was presented by Dr. Tonya Nyagiro, Director of the Department of Gender, Women and Health at the World Health Organization. The discussion was moderated by Mr. John Donnelly Award-Winning Journalist. Deputy Assistant Administrator Dr. Susan K. Brems spoke on behalf of the USAID Bureau for Global Health. Ms. Michele Moloney-Kitts provided remarks on behalf of PEPFAR. Dr. Julio Frenk, Dean of the Faculty at the Harvard School of Public Health and Minister of Health in Mexico, 2000-2006, spoke to the women's health from the global perspective.
