December 2009 Newsletter Summary
This year two new members joined the Council, President Dalia Grybauskaitė of Lithuania and Prime Minister Michèle Duvivier Pierre-Louis of Haiti. CWWL hosted women leaders as part of the Madeleine K. Albright Women's Voices at the Aspen Institute Series and joined with the World Economic Forum and with the International Center for Research on Women to discuss this year's Gender Gap Report. August 2009 Newsletter Summary
President Tarja Halonen of the Republic of Finland became the new Council Chair. CWWL engaged Council Members and members of the Ministerial Intiative to address and influence international policies for important issues including public health, human rights, and the environment and also launched a new fellowship program, the Public Health Graduate Fellowship Program. December 2008 Newsletter Summary
At the end of 2008 , the Council co-hosted a book talk with Cherie Blair on her newly released autobiography, a discussion on the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report, and an intimate dialogue on E U-US relations with the Honorable Margot Wallstrom and former Secretary of State Madeleine K. June 2008 Newsletter Summary
The Council , in partnership with the Aspen Institute, launched the inaugural installment of the Madeleine K. Albright Women’s Voices at the Aspen Institute Series, a new public program focusing on global issues of particular importance to women and on the policy areas where women have taken the lead on combating problems which impact humanity at large. This issue also includes information on the recent multi-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to fund the Ministerial Leadership Initiative for Global Health , one of our core ministerial programs. October 2007 Newsletter Summary
The Council continues to establish a presence of uniting high-level leaders from a diverse range of portfolios to engage in objective-based outcomes and activities that move beyond the initial dialogue through the Madeleine K. Albright Women’s Voices at the Aspen Institute Series. In addition, the Council—through a partnership with the Women’s Bureau at the U.S. Department of Labor—presented a roundtable discussion on Cross-Cultural Partnerships as a Catalyst for Women’s Empowerment.
